About us.....

Sensei Andrew Ferguson began his study of Aikido with the original Southampton Ki Aikido Club in 1999, under the direction of the Ki Society in Japan, and training at the Old Redbridge School at Millbrook. The Club moved to a new, purpose built Dojo (training hall) in Chapel Road Southampton during 2003.

The Chief European Instructor, Doshu Yoshigasaki, then left the Ki Society in Japan, and formed the Ki No Kenkyukai Association Internationale, and Sensei Andrew made the decision to stay with the new Association. He then formed the Solent Ki Aikido Club and attained his 1st Dan Grading in 2006. When the Chapel Road Dojo closed in 2008, the Club trained at different locations in Marchwood, together with the New Forest Ki Aikido Club.

A new Dojo has been built at Sensei Andrews home near Salisbury, and was used for the National Spring Seminar for the first time in 2011, and again in 2012 (and 2013!). While completions are being made to the Salisbury Dojo, the Club now trains at the Houndsdown Community Centre, on the edge of Totton.

It is hoped that by the summer of 2013, both the Totton and Salisbury Dojo’s can be used for regular weekly training sessions.
